The short answer

Choose an event around the decision you need to make: packaging flow, manufacturing handling or warehouse equipment. APPEX and Australian Manufacturing Week have Melbourne editions announced for 2027; CeMAT's next announced Australian edition is in Sydney. Bring your site constraints and compare supplier answers against the same brief.

Tables: swipe or scroll sideways to read all columns.

An industry event is most useful when you arrive with a question you want answered. For a Melbourne warehouse business, that question might concern the path from a packing line to dispatch, a load that the existing forklift cannot handle, or a battery and charging arrangement for a longer shift.

Our recommendation is to choose a relevant programme and prepare a short comparison sheet. You do not need to visit every show or collect every brochure.

Three announced trade shows to consider

Event Announced dates and location A useful buyer question
APPEX 16–19 March 2027, MCEC Melbourne How will the packaging line, pallet format and material movement work together?
Australian Manufacturing Week 11–14 May 2027, Melbourne What does the production process require from its handling equipment?
CeMAT Australia 27–29 July 2027, The Dome, Sydney Showground How do different handling and warehouse systems suit the same site brief?

These dates come from the organisers’ APPEX visiting information, AMW website and CeMAT about page. Check them again before booking travel. This is a selection, not a complete calendar, and inclusion does not imply Ecolift is exhibiting or affiliated with the organiser.

APPEX focuses on processing and packaging. Our suggested use for a forklift buyer is to follow what happens after a product is packed: pallet dimensions, wrapping, staging and dispatch. If those details change, the handling requirement may change too.

AMW’s published manufacturing-solutions description includes materials handling, logistics and safety. For a manufacturer, it provides a reason to look at the production workflow rather than comparing trucks in isolation. Check the current programme and visitor-registration information directly with AMTIL.

CeMAT focuses on intralogistics and materials handling. Its next announced edition is interstate for Melbourne buyers, so consider whether a local supplier demonstration or professional event could answer the same question before committing to travel.

Prepare a comparison sheet before attending

Bring a written record of your maximum load and dimensions, lift height, aisle and doorway restrictions, floor conditions, working hours and existing power supply. Site photographs can help explain a constraint, provided your business permits sharing them.

For each supplier, record the answer against the same questions:

  1. Which truck and attachment configuration is being proposed, and what information supports its suitability?
  2. What charger is supplied, and what needs to be checked at the installation point?
  3. What usage allowance and service arrangements would appear in a written hire quotation?
  4. What happens if the work changes or the truck is unavailable?
  5. What further information or site assessment is needed before a firm offer?

Separate a demonstration from confirmation for your own site. Record the model, configuration and any assumptions behind the answer. A brochure showing a nominal capacity does not, by itself, confirm suitability for every load and lift height.

Professional events can answer narrower questions

The ASCLA peak-performance webinar, listed for 14 October 2026, addresses retail intralogistics and peak preparation. It is an example of a focused session that may be more relevant than a broad technology exhibition when the immediate decision concerns seasonal capacity. Refer to the organiser for current access and registration details.

WorkSafe and other professional organisations also maintain event and guidance listings. Use our resource directory to find the original publishers. Membership requirements, audience restrictions and schedules vary.

The Australian Forklift Championship 2027 pre-registration page is another industry entry point. A championship is not a licence course or a substitute for workplace training. Confirm the competition timetable and eligibility directly; we do not infer a detailed schedule from the wider CeMAT dates.

Turn the visit into one next action

After the visit, update your site brief with the information that changes your decision. Flag unresolved points, such as charging provision or an attachment specification. Request comparable written quotations only after those assumptions are clear.

This gives the event a practical purpose: a better specification, a question resolved, or a next assessment arranged. It also makes follow-up more useful than collecting promotional material without a decision in mind.
